PraXtice is Methodology as a Service (MaaS). Just like SaaS, PaaS and IaaS. PraXtice lets you get on with what is important by leaving the methodology development to us.

PraXtice has all the advantages you'd expect from a service. It allows you to concentrate on doing architecture rather than talking about doing architecture.

Arcane architecture discussions may be interesting to architects. But they consume immense amounts of time usually without tangible results. This is harmful to the Architect's reputations and leads to questions about value.

PraXtice avoids all that. It starts with simple to follow instructions and evolves with your Architects so, there's no training necessary.
What PraXtice gives you is an SDLC agnostic methodology that brings transparency to the architectural process:

  • You'll know how solution development is progressing.
  • You'll be able to compare and measure solutions.
  • You'll reduce risk and increase consistency.
  • You'll be able to better manage your architecture resources.

You can get started for as little as $365 a year; a dollar a day. If you're still not sure why not start with FreePraXtice which is free! Once you've seen how PraXtice improves your architecture you can get preview access to ProfessionalPraXtice for sixty days for $24.

PraXtice uses ArchiMate for the modeling notation.

ArchiMate is owned by the Open Group and supported by Bizzdesign's, Architect, BOC's Architect, IBM's Enterprise Architect, SparX Enterprise Architect and an increasing number of other tools. PraXtice has no preference and makes no recommendations on the choice of tool.

One of the side effects of architecture's lack of legitimacy is that companies are often quite rightly reluctant to invest in architecture software; some of it is prohibitively expensive. But unfortunately you are going to need a REAL tool in order to establish the legitimacy to get the budget.

If you are in a “chicken and egg” situation where you need to prove a tool's value before you can get the budget to acquire a tool then we suggest trying Archi it's free; although we strongly encourage you to donate even if only personally. With free software the ROI is infinite!

Modeling can be a bit intimidating if you're not familiar with it. But, PraXtice makes it easy! First time using ArchiMate? Then go to our ArchiMate Quick Start, it presents a subset of frequently used Architecture Description Elements to get you started. Combine this summary with the examples and instructions from FreePraXtice and you'll be modelling within the hour!

Testimonials

I thought I knew what Architecture was before I came across PraXtice, I realized I was just at the beginning of my journey.

Since I started 7 years ago, the PraXtice methodology successfully leads me on my Architecture learning path.
The lessons learned from PraXtice made me look at the word with the eyes of an Architect.

Stefano P. - Senior Security Architect, Bologna, Italy

I could not see where I was going with my Architecture path; PraXtice helped me throwing out torches to lead me through the dark.

Ash I. - Solution Architect, Sydney Australia

I learnt more from PraXtice in an afternoon than the company had taught me in 7 years.

Ronnie T. - Technical Lead

PraXtice works regardless of the size of the project. It allows you to develop views that are relevant to your stakeholders and it works with any architecture tool.

Guvijay B. - Senior Solution Architect

I didn't truly understand the importance and value of Architecture to an organisation until I starting using PraXtice. This methodology provided the means to improve the organisation's Architecture practice and ensure better outcomes for the business.

Steven L. - Senior Solution Architect

Even though being an experienced architect with all the required certifications: TOGAF, archimate etc... the application of the method, and the documentation of the artefacts expected in each phase has always been a bit vague. Am I providing too much detail ? Do I need to create technology/deployment diagrams now? and the list of questions goes on and on...

Tom and his PraXtice method connects the dots, you get efficiency, you get meaning. You know exactly what you have to create at the exact time with the right amount of information, and all of this independently of which phase of the process you are in: idea, discovery or delivery.

I strongly recommend a try, and I can guarantee the result. Do I need fancy architecture tools ? NO.

Marcus Faoro - Senior Solution Architect / Reserve Bank of Australia
