Free to use.
The Free PraXtice edition is exactly that - free - it is provided at no expense or obligation, along with the Free PraXtice ArchiMate model.
Professional PraXtice.
FreePraXtice and ProPraXtice address the Designer, Builder and Sub Contractor perspectives, ideal for solution architecture. FreePraXtice is a subset of ProPraXtice that you can use to get going very quickly, confident that when you adopt ProPraXtice you won't have wasted any effort.
Complete PraXtice.
The ComPraXtice edition focuses on the Planner and Owner perspectives extending PraXtice into the Strategic and Tactical strata of architecture by addressing Enterprise and Segment (Domain) architecture considerations.
Advanced PraXtice.
AdPraXtice shifts the emphasis to the Architect and their craft. It is the gold standard of PraXtice and is only available to an organisation after the successful implementation of ComPraXtice. That's right, you can't just buy AdPraXtice and that's because you don't implement Architecture; you have to cultivate it!
ArchiMate is owned by the Open Group and supported by Bizzdesign's, Architect, BOC's Architect, IBM's Enterprise Architect, SparX Enterprise Architect and an increasing number of other tools. PraXtice has no preference and makes no recommendations on the choice of tool.
One of the side effects of architecture's lack of legitimacy is that companies are often quite rightly reluctant to invest in architecture software; some of it is prohibitively expensive. But unfortunately you are going to need a REAL tool in order to establish the legitimacy to get the budget.
If you are in a “chicken and egg” situation where you need to prove a tool's value before you can get the budget to acquire a tool then we suggest trying Archi it's free; although we strongly encourage you to donate even if only personally. With free software the ROI is infinite!
